    Despite the central theme of the article, the state of the community following Hurricane Sandy, I chose this article to highlight that throwing away food that cannot be sold is a choice made by the organization it is not a requirement. The requirement is to not sell the food for profit after a certain date, thus if accommodations to donate the food were made in the original system design the current debate would not exist and the economic reasons why we cannot adopt a new model that operates in this way is only present because doing so would result in a financial loss that would not be missed if this model was the only model.
